Roel J. Bosker (University of Groningen, Netherlands)
Prof. Dr. Roel J. Bosker (1955) is currently full professor of education and director of GION, the Groningen Institute for Educational Research at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He started his career as educational researcher at the same institute in 1980, mainly specializing in school effectiveness research and inequality of educational opportunities issues, became associate professor at the University of Twente in 1990, at which university he became full professor of educational evaluation in 1998. He was expert-advisor to the OECD-secretariat for Learning for Tomorrow’s World on student achievement (PISA-2006). And he has been member of the Technical Advisory Group for OECD’s PIAAC study on adult literacy. He has been visiting professor to Melbourne University (Australia), Syracuse University (New York, USA), and Nuffield College (Oxford University, UK).
He has been member of the Dutch Education Council, the most important advisory body for the Minister of Education and the Dutch Parliament, member of the Board of Trustees for the Dutch Inspectorate of Education, and chair of the advisory board for Cito, the Dutch National Institute for Educational Measurement. He is co-editor of the SSCI-journal

Multilevel Analysis. An Introduction to Basic and Advanced Multilevel Modelling, both highly cited books with >2,000 and >14,000 citations respectively.
